Heatherwood’s goal is not only to teach horsemanship to our students, but to foster a bond between the rider and horse in order to develop a sense of awareness and sensitivity to the special attributes of their relationship.

Heatherwood Equestrian Academy offers an 8 week Lesson Program for a fee of $260 per rider for a group lesson.  The group is 2-4 riders. We match riders of similar skills.  The lessons are 1/2 hour on the horses. Students should plan to be here at least an hour in the first lesson.

Private lessons are available when we have room in the schedule & are priced according to duration.

Adult riders are grouped with other adults of similar skill levels. Adults who rode as a child, took a break for career, family, other circumstances or are just beginning – we look forward to working with you. Adults find riding & bonding with the horses is a great way to relieve stress, get some exercise and relax.

Sometimes parents or grandparents like to take riding lessons with their child. It is fun, a great bonding experience as well as good exercise.

The lessons are given during the week on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from the afternoons into the early evenings.   Riders will come one time per week for 8 weeks. We schedule a day & time which will be good for both our schedules.

We teach students age 4 years old up to and including adults (no age limit). Beginner through advanced riders are welcome in our program. No experience is necessary. We teach English hunter/jumper style riding.

Lessons are given year round utilizing our outdoor and indoor riding arenas as well as the wooded riding trails. At the first lesson our students will learn safety around horses, how to groom and tack up a horse as well as the initial riding session. Riders advance their skills based on physical abilities & confidence on the horse.

If a lesson is missed due to illness, vacation or schedule conflicts – you do not lose it. Makeup lessons are scheduled & taken during the 8 week program.  The days and time availability will change depending on when the student starts.
